The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested an arson suspect in connection to the fire burning in the northeast end of Horsetooth Reservoir.

The sheriff’s office says when deputies arrived on the scene, they were told a man involved in the fire left. They found him on Country Road 23. The Fort Collins man has been charged with 2nd degree Arson, and Criminal Mischief.

The Poudre Fire Authority crews spent much of Thursday fighting the Skyline Fire. A section of County Road 23 between CR42C and CR25G was closed, and the Fire Authority asked people to avoid the area.

Helicopter air service spent the afternoon dropping water and filling on the blaze, and dropping fire retardant around the perimeter. Video from the Poudre Fire Authority's Twitter account shows a helicopter circling smoke.

The fire burned a little more than 16 acres and is 100 percent contained. Crews will be monitoring hot spots through Thursday night and continue to work the area on Friday.
