KUNC's Colorado Edition: A Very Pre-Primary Special

Canva Stock

In this special episode of KUNC's Colorado Edition, we talk elections. In November, Colorado voters will select a replacement for term-limited Democrat Governor John Hickenlooper.

On June 26, voters will decide who they want to have on the fall ballot during the primary election. This is their story. (Insert sound effect here.)

First up, we hear from the four Democratic candidates for governor -- Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne, former state senator Mike Johnston, Congressman Jared Polis and former state treasurer Cary Kennedy. Bente Birkeland was present for their Colorado Public Television debate andbrought us the highlights

Then, a short PSA for any unaffiliated voters: You get to vote in the primaries this year. Both Republican and Democratic ballots will land in your mailbox, but you can only return one. If you return both, neither will be counted. Matt Bloom talked with voters in Denver on their opinion on unaffiliated voters being included in the primary process.

We wrap up with three of the four Republican candidates for governor in their CPT debate. Former mayor of Parker Greg Lopez and businessmen Victor Mitchell and Doug Robinsonconsider themselves GOP outsiders with numerous differences between them. The presumed frontrunner, state treasurer Walker Stapleton, was absent due to scheduling conflicts.

Our intro music is "Remember Me" by Colorado musician Kalatana. Our outro is "Good Grief" by Ryan Little.
