KUNC's Colorado Edition: Happy Birthday To You, Colorado
On this episode of Colorado Edition, we're celebrating the state's 142nd birthday with bugling elk and Dr. Colorado.
One thing Colorado has always been known for is its great outdoors. So what better way to celebrate Colorado Day than with a story of hunting in what many call the state's crown jewel: Rocky Mountain National Park? But as you'll hear in Michael de Yoanna's audio postcard, it's not hunting with rifles: These researchers hunt with microphones.
A new exhibit from History Colorado highlights unique moments from the Centennial State's fascinating and eclectic past. Arts and culture reporter Stacy Nick met up with new state historian Tom Noel - also known as Dr. Colorado.
Last year, Colorado received nearly $16 million from the federal government to address prevention, treatment and recovery for the growing opioid epidemic. A small part of that grant funds the Life the Label campaign, which focuses on removing the stigma surrounding opioid use and treatment. Stephanie Daniel reports on how this program hopes to encourage more people to seek help.
Stand near a river in Colorado and you'll hear a symphony of sounds - birds chirping, frogs croaking, water flowing. But what would it sound like if the stream itself could be transformed into a classical symphony? Luke Runyon sat down with a researcher who is doing just that.
The new documentary Three Identical Strangers centers on triplets separated in infancy who encounter one another as teenagers. KUNC film critic Howie Movshovitz teaches film and television at CU Denver. He says the movie tells a fascinating story but doesn't go far enough.
