With the death of Prince, it’s been a rough week for music.

Whether you’re looking for some home-grown tunes, some hot jazz or just want to geek out to a Theremin (you know who you are), here are a few options for a reprieve from the bad news.

While it may have started out as an experiment, eight years later the Fort Collins Music eXperiment has proven itself a success. The two-day festival will feature more than 250 Colorado-based acts playing at 25 venues throughout the city -- a chance to find a new favorite band or revisit some old favorites.

Trekkies, boldly going where no symphony has gone before. ‘Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage’ will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek and its music. The concert will feature film clips and compositions written for the franchise – everything from the music of the original 1960s television show to the film soundtracks to the themes from offshoots like The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.
