CSU Fort Collins Reports 34 Layoffs

CSU

Colorado State University in Fort Collins is reporting 34 layoffs at the end of its 2010-2011 fiscal year. That’s much lower than the anticipated 95 faculty and 150 staff layoffs projected during springtime budget planning, according to CSU Spokesperson Brad Bohlander.

“Because of good planning, and working with students and the tuition increases… that was really what was able to keep those jobs from being cut,” he said.

In-state CSU students on the Fort Collins campus will see a 20 percent increase in tuition this school year. Meantime, state funding is expected to decrease by $23 million.

Bohlander says the layoffs included two non-tenure track faculty members, and 23 workers were laid off as their research or contract work was ending.
