A powerful winter storm that dumped up to two feet on some Colorado ski areas has skiers and snow boarders smiling, and resort officials breathing a sigh of relief.
Jenn Rudolph of the trade group Colorado Ski Country USA says this week’s storm is good news for snow-dependent businesses.
"When you have almost every resort reporting a double digit snowfall in 48 hours, that’s a big deal any season, so certainly this year, it’s got a little more impact," Rudolph says.
Some of the biggest winners were Wolf Creek in southern Colorado which received 18 inches, and Aspen Mountain, which came in at 14 new inches.
Resorts from Steamboat Springs to Copper Mountain have been struggling with a dry winter that’s kept them from opening much of their terrain.
