Hickenlooper Presents 2012 Budget Proposal

Lawmakers peppered Governor John Hickenlooper with economic development questions on Thursday when he presented his budget for next year. The legislature’s bi-partisan joint budget committee is charged with crafting a budget. Similar to recent years, the budget will require significant cuts to government programs. The Governor has also set aside 6 million dollars for economic incentives. KUNC’s state capitol reporter Bente Birkeland has more.

Colorado Economic Forecast Grim

State economists are warning that the risks of a double-dip recession are rising in Colorado.  A new revenue forecast out Tuesday from the non-partisan Legislative Council shows that the state’s economy is still growing, but at a very slow rate.

Colorado's Fiscal Year Ends With A Surplus

According to the latest projection from the legislature’s Joint Budget Committee Colorado will finish up the 2010-2011 budget year with a surplus of more than $300 million.
