The photo is proof of the $1.5 million disappearing act. A little over a month after the earth opened up in Leadville, traffic is once again traveling along U.S. 24 near Tennessee Pass.

The Colorado Department of Transportation discovered the gaping hole in the ground on July 9th and repair work estimated to cost $1.5 million began July 18th.

But this wasn’t just your average sinkhole. As we previously reported, at an estimated 100ft the hole uncovered a part of Colorado’s past revealing a long forgotten and collapse railroad tunnel.

C-DOT was successful in reopening the road before the start of the 2nd annual USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Bikers are scheduled to ride along U.S. 24 on Thursday, August 24th.
