Three Colorado Schools Included In List of Best Public Colleges

U.S. News & World Report

The latest edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings includes Colorado School of Mines, the University of Colorado and Colorado State University.

The top public universities list ranked a total of 115 schools including:

University of California - Berkeley was ranked first on the top public universities list followed by University of California - Los Angeles and University of Virginia tied for second.

According to U.S. News & World Report, public colleges and universities are typically operated under the supervision of state governments and are funded, in part, by tax dollars and subsidies from the state. As a result, these universities often offer free or discounted tuition to students considered residents of the state. Public schools run the gamut from small liberal arts colleges to large research institutions.

U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on a variety of measures, including academic peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.
