Increased West Nile Spraying In Northern Colorado

The number of human cases of West Nile in Colorado has reached 17 so far this season, prompting more municipalities to spray for mosquitoes.

The number of cases is expected to rise. The last time Fort Collins issued city wide spraying was six years ago in 2007. Here are the current spraying schedules

Fort Collins

  • North of Mulberry Street – Wednesday, Aug. 14 & Monday, Aug. 19
  • South of Mulberry Street – Thursday, Aug. 15 & Tuesday, Aug. 20

  • Begins Monday, Aug. 12 and again on Thursday, Aug. 15
    Jim Hamm District Park
    Union Reservoir
    Sandstone Ranch
    Great Western/Mill Village
    St. Vrain Greenway
    Willow Creek/Clover Basin

Residents in spray areas are being advised to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed for 30 to 60 minutes after spraying. Pets should be kept indoors as well. Residents can further minimize pesticide exposure by covering organic gardens, ponds, and water features with a sheet or tarp.
