Today on Colorado Edition: we’ll hear from a local public health department about their contact tracing work. Plus, we’ll check in on how people living at nursing homes are faring. And, we’ll learn what the transition to safer-at-home has meant for food trucks, and for a local marijuana business.

Contact Tracing In Weld County

According to data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment out Wednesday, Weld County has had almost 2,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Today, we’re going to explore the county’s efforts to limit the spread of the virus through a contact tracing program. Valerie Smith, the county’s lead epidemiologist, joined us to explain what contact tracing is, and how the county is utilizing it.

Celebrating Mother’s Day In A Nursing Home

As more Coloradans return to work and define a new “normal” amid the coronavirus pandemic, life won’t change for some. Older and disabled people who live in nursing homes and assisted living centers still cannot have visitors, including their families. And this is hard on everyone, especially as Mother’s Day approaches. KUNC’s Michael de Yoanna reports.

How Food Trucks Are Operating During A Pandemic

Food trucks are usually the underdogs in the restaurant business. But in the pandemic economy, they’re thriving. With Colorado’s dine-in restaurants still limited to take-out and delivery, some food trucks are finding success in a new location — right outside their customers’ homes. KUNC’s Matt Bloom brings us the story.

Local Office Reflects On Transition To ‘Safer-At-Home’

At the start of this week, offices around the state began reopening with up to 50% of their in-person staff, under the state’s latest phase of its coronavirus response.  We’ve been checking in with employees and business owners to hear about what they’re going through. Today, we spoke with Joe Hodas, the chief marketing officer at Wana Brands, a Colorado-based edibles manufacturer. They are headquartered and have production facilities in Boulder County.
