Colorado Edition: How To Test A Whole County For COVID-19

Scott Franz

Capitol Coverage

Today, on a special episode of Colorado Edition, we get the latest updates on the spread of COVID-19 in Colorado. We’ll hear about how one county is testing all of its residents for the virus. And we’ll get some movie recommendations for the weekend.

COVID-19 Testing in San Miguel County

We’ve talked a lot about testing over the past few weeks — and specifically, the lack of testing available in Colorado and around the country.

It may surprise you to learn that one county in the state is testing all its residents.

That’s what’s going on in San Miguel County in southwest Colorado. On Wednesday officials in the county ordered all residents to shelter in place, before the county reported any confirmed cases of the virus.

One couple, who lives in Telluride part-time, is paying for all residents to get tested twice.

Jesse Paul has been reporting on this for The Colorado Sun, and he explained what’s going on and what we could learn from the data.

Weekend Movie Recommendations.

Chances are your weekend plans have been canceled. We’re going to bring you some ideas for movies you can watch at home with your family.

KUNC film critic Howie Movshovitz, who teaches film and television at CU-Denver, has our recommendations.
