The Origins Of Denver PrideFest
This weekend is the annual Denver PrideFest, but due to the coronavirus, this year's event will be celebrated virtually. To learn about the history of the celebration, we spoke with Aaron Marcus. Extraction Oil And Gas Files For Bankruptcy
As the oil and gas industry continues to face the economic fall-out from the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver-based Extraction Oil and Gas has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Dan Mika from BizWest has been reporting on this story and joined us to discuss.
Getting Hitched During A Pandemic
June is usually the height of wedding season. But weddings, like so many other events this summer, are coming together very differently than intended. Joe Eibes and Brittney Orbeck planned a big wedding for earlier this month, but when COVID-19 happened they cancelled their ceremony, unsure of how to move forward. KUNC’s Matt Bloom recently spoke with them about navigating a wedding during the pandemic.
36th Anniversary Of Alan Berg’s Murder
Today is the 36th anniversary of Denver radio talk show host Alan Berg’s brutal murder. The Jewish attorney turned radio personality was targeted by members of an anti-Semitic militia group. For the 30thanniversary of his death, Erin O’Toole reported on how the killing sent shockwaves throughout Colorado and across the country.
A Rare Weather Event
Colorado recently experienced a very rare weather phenomenon– a widespread wind event that causes strong thunderstorms. It’s not a tornado, but a derecho. On June 6th, a derecho impacted most of the state. Our summer science fellow Sere Williams joined us to explain this weather event.
