Colorado Edition: Through A Screen

Courtesy Longmont Museum
Longmont Museum has virtual 360 tours, including Terry Maker's exhibit 'Because the World is Round.'

Today on Colorado Edition: why nursing homes are so susceptible to COVID-19. Plus, we’ll get tips for maintaining mental health during challenging times. We’ll also look at how online learning works for English as a second language students, why museums are making collections available virtually, and we'll get some advice about how to start watching Alfred Hitchcock films.

COVID-19 In Nursing Homes

Across Colorado, about 60% of deaths due to COVID-19 are from nursing homes. KUNC’s Michael de Yoanna has been following the latest numbers, and joined us with an update.

Maintaining Mental Health

During a pandemic, it is easy to fixate on physical health. But what about mental health? We get some tips for dealing with stress and anxiety during a pandemic from Vincent Atchity, president and CEO of Mental Health Colorado.

Learning English, While Learning Virtually

Colorado’s stay-at-home order lifts next Monday – but K-12 schools will remain closed by the state. Most have switched over to online learning. But this format doesn’t work well for all classes and students. KUNC’s Stephanie Daniel has more on how one Northern Colorado school district is dealing with the transition to virtual classrooms.

Visit Colorado’s Museums, From Home

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the U.S., some of the first things to close were the arts — movie theaters, concert venues and museums. But many of our state’s museums are still making art available to visitors, from the safety of your home. KUNC’s Stacy Nick joined us with more.

Looking For A Movie To Watch? You’re In Luck

For many of us these days, the question may come up – what shall we watch tonight? Well, we have an answer for you. KUNC’s film critic Howie Movshovitz, who teaches film and television at CU-Denver, says try anything made by Alfred Hitchcock.
