The union’s Facebook post came early Monday after a marathon of sorts.
“After another 37 hours of bargaining this weekend, we have secured a final offer with King Soopers/City Market,” it read. “Details and statewide vote dates and locations will be posted soon.”
Following months of back and forth and a tense weekend of face-to-face bargaining between the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 7 and representatives of Colorado’s largest grocery chain, the two parties reached a tentative deal early Monday morning. The agreement means a potential 12,000-worker strike has been avoided - for now.
On a company website, King Soopers also posted a brief statement, saying all details will be shared in upcoming ratification meetings.
“Thank you for your patience during this process and your commitment to serving our customers and community,” it read.
Details of the agreement have not been made public by either the union or the company.
