To help slow the spread of the coronavirus, Gov. Jared Polis has ordered the suspension of in-person learning at all public and private schools across the state from March 23 to April 17.
Earlier Wednesday, Polis stressed that teachers would still use online tools to continue teaching classes.
"We still have those teachers. We still have great staff. We still have the kids that need to learn. And we want to make sure they don't sacrifice a third of a year of academic achivement," he said.
Polis said it is "increasingly unlikely" students will return to their classrooms this school year.
He also ordered all downhill ski areas to remain closed until April 6, which is an extension of his previous order that they stay closed until March 22.
And in another executive order, Polis says residents should not be at gatherings of 10 or more people.
