At least one rocket was fired from Gaza toward Tel Aviv on Sunday, but was thwarted by Israeli missile defense. Israel continued airstrikes overnight, hitting two media buildings that house both domestic and foreign news agencies.

The conflict between Israel and the Gaza Strip continues to escalate after Israeli airstrikes flattened key targets in Gaza and Palestinian rockets threatened deeper into Israel than ever before.

On Saturday, Israel launched more airstrikes in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. In the fourth day of the conflict, Hamas also continues to fire rockets at Israel. Weekends on All Things Considered host Guy Raz talks with NPR's Anthnoy Kuhn, who's in Gaza for the latest.

The Palestinians have been firing rockets at Israel for years, but the volleys had been confined to the sparsely populated south of the country. The attack directed at Jerusalem is seen as a powerful symbolic blow.

Israel's Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren said the drafting of 30,000 reservists "signals a preparation for possible land action."

In a marriage of social media and warfare, Israel announced its military operation in the Gaza Strip via Twitter. Shortly afterward, Israel released video footage of a deadly air strike. Hamas, meanwhile, has been commenting on its rocket attacks against Israel.

As the airstrikes on Gaza continue and more rockets are fired into Israel, there's concern about an all-out war. More than 10 people have been killed in Hamas-controlled territory in the past two days. At least three Israelis have died on the other side.

The president's political party, the Muslim Brotherhood, said a changed Egypt will no longer allow "Palestinians to be subjected to Israeli aggression."

Ahmed Jabari, the commander of Hamas' military wing who has long been on Israel's "most-wanted" list, is dead, according to what Hamas and Israeli officials are telling news outlets. The strikes follow rocket fire from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip on Israel.
