CSU Stadium Committee Getting Close to Recommendation

A Stadium Advisory Committee is expected to make a recommendation soon to Colorado State University President Tony Frank on whether to move forward with plans to build a 42,000-seat football stadium on campus.

The Committee will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the Lory Student Center North Ballroom to review research and findings. The actual recommendation won’t come until after that meeting, according to CSU Spokesperson Kyle Henley. Dr. Frank has said that he won’t make a final decision on the matter until next fall.

A stadium site selection sub-committee has narrowed down the location where such a structure could be built to the southwest side of campus, between West Lake and Pitkin streets. The area right now has a parking lot and greenhouses.

Earlier this month, KUNC reported on university efforts to ramp up polls targeting student opinions on the topic. The university held additional public forums last month as well.

The Stadium Advisory Committee meeting will be streamed live at www.colostate.edu/stadium.
