Spectators look on as a cyclist finishes in downtown Fort Collins during the 2013 USA Pro Challenge.

After leaving Stage 6 up for grabs, USA Pro Challenge organizers announced a winner: Northern Colorado. The general outline for Stage 6 will start in Loveland, go through Windsor and finish in downtown Fort Collins – although the exact route for the August 22 stage has yet to be determined.

"We'll look at feedback from fans on the route, and then we'll be in conversations closely with race organizers to determine the very best route for Northern Colorado," said Eric Thompson, co-chair of the local organizing committee.

The organizing committee is looking for fans to submit their suggestions on their Facebook page.

Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor and Estes Park last hosted the USA Pro Challenge in 2013.

Officials announced the almost-complete 2015 route Dec. 4 with the exception of Stage 6. The selection came down to thousands of fan suggestions, nearly half of the route submissions involved Northern Colorado.

Thompson said Fort Collins, Windsor and Loveland put together $210,000 in services and cash donations to host the start and finish. He hopes to raise another $250,000 in funding from sponsorships.

"It really shows how passionate people are about cycling and the outdoors, how passionate they are about our community, how much they believe in this race," he said. "It also shows how great the experience was in 2013."
