Hickenlooper Squashes Road Deal Transparency Measure

A bill that would have provided greater public oversight during public-private road deals was vetoed by Governor John Hickenlooper Wednesday.

The measure was proposed following public outcry over a deal to widen U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder as well as install toll lanes.

More and more companies are starting to use the new Colorado logo and slogan - “it’s our nature” - to promote their products, helping the state's efforts to strengthen its brand and global competitiveness. The branding effort though has been somewhat controversial and it will take some time to determine its success.

Governor Hickenlooper Signs Stricter Pot Regulations

Governor John Hickenlooper signs House Bill 1361 to create an equivalency between marijuana that is smoked, and marijuana in a concentrate form that is vaporized.

Governor John Hickenlooper signed two measures into law Wednesday, both aimed at tightening rules around marijuana edibles and concentrates. One goal is to make sure young children don’t accidentally ingest the drug.

Mental health became a top priority for some Colorado lawmakers following the Aurora theater shootings and the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The state made a large investment in mental health services during the 2013 session, but there have been setbacks since.

Expecting A Normal Wildfire Season, Hickenlooper Signs Wildfire Legislation

As snow fell in Colorado Monday, Governor John Hickenlooper spoke about the state's 2014 wildfire outlook and signed three wildfire focused bills into law. While Northern Colorado has seen ample moisture, the Division of Fire Prevention and Control said the state should still expect to see an average to normal fire season.
