Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead: Zombie Crawl!

Jim Hill
/
KUNC

Have you ever wondered what will stop the Free Mall Shuttle from running? Turns out it's the undead, 30,000 of them. The 6th Annual Zombie Crawl swarmed, over-ran, marched and moaned for BRRRRAAAAIIIINSSS!!! on the 16th St Mall in Denver Saturday.

Over 7300 zombies gathered last year, and early reports on twitter had the living dead in Skyline Park zooming past 12,000 and approaching 30. Either way, the mall shuttle was scuttled for the day and traffic crawled through downtown Saturday due to the ghastly horde.

The 6th Annual Zombie Crawl was an all ages and free event. Everyone and everything was welcome. Organizers though, did do one thing that is certainly KUNC approved, they asked undead participants to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Food Bank of the Rockies.

I’m not a Colorado native (did you know that "I'm from Missouri" means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced?") but I have lived here for most of my life and couldn't imagine leaving. After graduating from Colorado State University, I did what everyone wants to do; I moved to the mountains and skied, hiked, and hid from responsibility! Our listeners in the mountains may know me from my time in Steamboat Springs and Vail or as the voice of the Battle Mountain Huskies Hockey team in Vail.
