What Does 24hrs of RTD Activity Look Like? Watch This Video And Find Out
One 24 hour period of all Regional Transportation District transit activity condensed into one 2 minute video.
There's also an awesome soundtrack to boot.
The video is just one of the many created by Andrew Walker of Sumus Technology in Vancouver. Using the General Transit Feed Specification, a format used to provide timetable, stop location and route information; Walker integrated Denver’s information into visual form to create the video.
As the video progresses, it’s easy to pick out the main arteries of Denver like the 16th Street Mall, Speer Boulevard, and Colfax Avenue. But if you look closely, you can also see RTD routes in Boulder and Longmont as well as busses traveling to DIA.
The dots are coded according to RTD’s different routes. Local lines are colored blue, express and light rail lines are orange, SkyRide to DIA appears dark blue and regional buses are dark greenish gray.
Here’s a link to a map showing all the cities that Walker has created transit videos for.
