The Regional Transportation District is closing the W line between Knox Station and the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden between August 9 and August 11. The reason is for something RTD officials hadn’t anticipated.
“We’ve noticed that some passengers are cutting across the tracks, across the ballast, where the rocks are, instead of where there are concrete walkways, and that’s pretty dangerous,” said RTD’s Scott Reed.
More specifically, riders at two stations along the line have created their own pathways across the tracks instead of using existing concrete walkways. It’s something RTD didn’t expect.
Well, the agency has heard you loud and clear. They’ll pave the rider made pathways to make them safe for use.
“We make adjustments as needed, and improvements as needed. And that’s exactly what we’re going to be doing with this paving and concreting process on the West Line because we’ve learned more since the line has been open,” said Reed.
During the closure, shuttle busses will be used to transport passengers along the line. All stations between Knox and the Jefferson County Government Center will be affected. RTD says riders should anticipate some delays along the line.
