For your auditioning pleasure this weekend: the self-titled work from the quartet, The Barr Brothers, and the latest from Darrell Scott...
Self-taught musicians, Brad and Andrew Barr, bring us music that drifts from intimate storytelling, to gritty blues, to lushly arranged folk and to quasi-electronica with an ambient feel. Nice. Very nice!

Troubador Darrell Scott has a new one, Long Ride Home, a home-made record reflecting the country music, the real country music, that Scott grew up in, on and with, in Kentucky. The record is composed of Scott's works along with songs co-written by some pretty creative folks; country legends such as Guy Clark, Marcus Hummon, Jim Rushing, and Scott's dad, Wayne.
Other stellar writers and pickers joined Scott on this project: Charlie McCoy, Rodney Crowell, Patty Griffin and Tim O'Brien, who were "centered around the grand piano where THE pianist of country music, Hargus"Pig" Robbins, presided." It’s quite a record.
