In advance of their show at the Bluebird Theater last Friday May 11th, The Lumineers played live at legendary record store Twist & Shout.

From a Grammy ReImagined Session, to Conan, to Swallow Hill, and on to appearances this summer at the XPoNential Music Festival and opening for Cake at Red Rocks. Times are good for The Lumineers.

They're currently #12 on the independent Billboard chart, and if you switch to folk, a very impressive #5 with their latest self titled release. Which makes it all the better to see a local band make good with something extra for the home crowd, and for the crowd to give it right back.

That feeling extended to their May 11th Friday show at the Bluebird. Tom Murphy with Westword's Backbeat saw it:

"...anyone lucky enough to catch The Lumineers at this time will find a band that exudes passion for its material and an overwhelming sense of happiness and gratitude at being able to play that music to people who have checked their judgment at the door."

The Lumineers are on tour both stateside and then heading to Europe in the fall.

I’m not a Colorado native (did you know that "I'm from Missouri" means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced?") but I have lived here for most of my life and couldn't imagine leaving. After graduating from Colorado State University, I did what everyone wants to do; I moved to the mountains and skied, hiked, and hid from responsibility! Our listeners in the mountains may know me from my time in Steamboat Springs and Vail or as the voice of the Battle Mountain Huskies Hockey team in Vail.
