A Conversation About Police In Schools
Last Friday, members of the Denver School Board announced that they would introduce a resolution to end the contract between Denver Public Schools and the Denver Police Department. The resolution is co-authored by Denver Board of Education Vice President Jennifer Bacon, and Denver school board director Tay Anderson. Tay Anderson joined us to discuss the resolution.
Protesters in Missoula, Montana
A couple hundred people gathered to protest racism and police violence in Missoula, Montana last Friday. It looked and sounded like a usual rally. But interspersed between signs saying ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘No Justice, No Peace’ were about 20 white men and women carrying handguns and AR-15s. Our Mountain West News Bureau’s Nate Hegyi explains how they got there.
What We Know About Asymptomatic Spread Of COVID-19
Health officials say one of the most troubling things about the coronavirus is that it can be spread by people who don’t even know they have it. People with no symptoms of the virus have brought it into jails, where there have been massive outbreaks, and nursing homes, where hundreds of patients have died. KUNC reporters Leigh Paterson and Michael de Yoanna joined us to discuss what we know about the asymptomatic spread of COVID-19.
How Libraries Are Adapting To The Pandemic
When you think of a library, you might think of browsing the rows of books. Or maybe sitting and reading. Or using the computers. But now that close physical contact and shared surfaces could result in the spread of COVID-19, libraries, like other industries around our state, have had to adapt. Kevin Simpson of the Colorado Sun joined us to discuss. He recently reported on libraries and how they’re adapting to the pandemic and changing guidelines.
Outdoor Recreation Guidance
Colorado public health officials have issued guidance on how outdoor recreation should operate in the state, to limit the spread of COVID-19. KUNC’s Luke Runyon joined us to talk through what’s included in that guidance, and what it will mean for the outdoor industry this summer.
