A street-parking tradition has grown up in some snowbound American cities: you shovel it, you own it. Drivers claim their spots with cones, chairs and laundry baskets. A Boston resident told The New York Times�the most unusual placeholder she'd seen was a table set for two, complete with a bottle of chilled wine. Those who braved a blizzard for a parking spot take it seriously: Poaching someone's space can result in a shouting match or slashed tires.
