Six cities are still in the running for the 2016 RNC National Convention. Including Denver, others on the list like Las Vegas, Dallas, Kansas City, Cleveland and Cincinnati will all receive ‘technical visits’ to give organizers a better feel for the cities’ offerings.

There's news today about the 2016 presidential campaign that has nothing to do with the growing list of would-be candidates with White House aspirations.

It's about the big nominating conventions the Democrats and Republicans hold every four years. Legislation the president signed Thursday afternoon means those huge political extravaganzas will no longer receive millions of dollars in taxpayer support. It's not the only change that's likely for conventions.

One overlooked part of the convention frenzy was the party platforms. They seemed to cause more embarrassment than excitement at the DNC, where party leaders fumbled at reinserting clauses about Jerusalem and God into their platform. And at the RNC, Rep. John Boehner admitted he'd never even read his party's platform. Occupy The Conventions: Where Are The Protesters At The DNC, RNC?

A group of roughly 100 Occupy protestors took to the streets in Charlotte on Wednesday. Occupiers marched relatively peacefully down Tryon St. a few blocks away from the Time Warner Cable Arena.

These days, Tryon Street here in Charlotte has felt a bit like a carnival. It has some to do with the many temporary structures that have popped up every few blocks and certainly some to do with the street vendors hawking T-shirts and hats and pins and mugs.
