Russian Teen Discovers Message In A Bottle

STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

In 1987, a five-year-old boy stuffed a message in a bottle. He wrapped it in cellophane, sealed with a bandage, and he put a ceramic plug in the mouth of the beer bottle he chose to carry it. Finally, the German boy tossed the bottle from the deck of a ship into the Baltic Sea. Twenty-four years later, a teenage Russian boy discovered the bottle. The two have now spoken by video link and the German, Frank Uesbeck, plans to send the boy another note.
