VIDEO: Independence Day Eve Fireworks At Denver's Civic Center Park

http://youtu.be/FyBGnzFr-GM

The traditional sights and sounds of Independence Day were on full display in Civic Center Park on Tuesday night. The traditional Independence Day Eve celebration brought together Coloradans, fireworks, ( a rarity this year in drought and wildfire ravaged Colorado ) and the music of the Colorado Symphony.

The wildfires that have burned across much of the state were not far from everyone's mind as air tankers flew over the city before dusk. This year's celebration was also a fundraiser for wildfire relief efforts [.pdf]. Attendees were asked to donate by texting "FIRE" to 80000, to donate $10 to the effort.

I’m not a Colorado native (did you know that "I'm from Missouri" means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced?") but I have lived here for most of my life and couldn't imagine leaving. After graduating from Colorado State University, I did what everyone wants to do; I moved to the mountains and skied, hiked, and hid from responsibility! Our listeners in the mountains may know me from my time in Steamboat Springs and Vail or as the voice of the Battle Mountain Huskies Hockey team in Vail.
