Loveland is gearing up to host NASA officials at an Innovation and Technology Showcase event tomorrow starting at 10:30 a.m.at the Rocky Mountain Center for Innovation and Technology (RMCIT), formerly the Agilent Technologies campus.
The main topic of discussion is expected to be so-called technology transfer efforts that are being put into place locally and nationally.
The meeting is the latest installment in a long and winding history surrounding the former Agilent campus, which at one point was known as the Aerospace and Clean Energy Innovation or ACE Park.
The city of Loveland, along with NASA and the Colorado Association for Manufacturing and Technology had planned to use the former Agilent campus to house the ACE Park. In addition to attracting businesses to the 800,000 square foot campus, it was expected to create thousands of jobs in the area. But the deal soured last March.
Since that time the city of Loveland launched a new effort to populate the former Agilent campus and create jobs. The idea is to connect up to 30 local tech and manufacturing businesses with a consulting company to help local companies expand.
NASA officials visiting town tomorrow are expected to give interested companies a crash course on how to work with the federal agency. According to a press release, other details discussed at the meeting will include how companies can scout for technology and how they can share technology.
