The Atlantic calls it the "MCJobs stimulus package:" The Wall Street Journal reports that McDonald's and its franchises will hire as many as 50,000 people during an April 19 job fair. The paper reports:

The fast-food giant said the event will seek to add a combination of full- and part-time positions in nearly 14,000 restaurants.

McDonald's has 1.7 million employees world-wide.

The fast-food giant has continued to outpace its rivals, aided by an increasingly diverse menu that ranges from value items to higher-margin offerings such as blended ice drinks, as well as renovated stores and longer hours of operations.

CNN reports that the new hires will increase McDonald's workforce to 700,000 from it's current 650,000 level. The average pay for the jobs is $8.30 an hour.
