KUNC Wins Two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

The Radio Television Digital News Association has recognized the KUNC newsroom with two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in journalism. The awards were given in region three in the U.S., which includes Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

Arts and Culture Reporter Stacy Nick won in the Best Use of Sound category. She profiled the music Fort Collins singer-songwriter Danielle Anderson created for an HBO documentary on 20th century artist Edith Lake Wilkinson. Anderson is best known as Danielle Ate the Sandwich. Nick also recently won a first place award for Best Light Feature category from the Associated Press Television-Radio Association for the same story.

Reporters Luke Runyon and Stephanie Paige Ogburn co-reported a story about what Front Range farmers are doing to help curb nitrogen pollution in Rocky Mountain National Park. The story was singled out in the Hard Feature category.

The RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession. Regional winners are automatically eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June.
