Fresh off his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama has embarked on a five-state campaign-style tour which will include a brief stop today in the Denver area. Mr. Obama is scheduled to give a speech on “new energy” at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.

Obama: 'I Will Not Walk Away From The Promise Of Clean Energy'

President Obama called for more domestic oil and gas production, saying that "a future where we're in control of our own energy" is within reach, where the nation's security and prosperity would not be so closely linked to unstable parts of the world.

Toward that end, he said his administration would open more than 75 percent of potential offshore oil and gas resources for development.

The president stressed that the country already has progressed toward energy independence and used less foreign oil last year "than in any of the past 16 years."

Boulder Looks for Solutions to Clean Energy Loan Impasse

As part of our series examining the roadblocks in front of clean energy last year, we told you about a popular clean energy loan program in Boulder County that had been abruptly halted as a result of actions by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  The two mortgage giants had suddenly declared they would not buy home mortgages with so called “PACE” loans attached to them.  But a recent court ruling in California might change that, if Congress doesn’t act even sooner.
