Host Susan Stamberg talks to artist Maya Lin, who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial when she was an undergraduate at Yale. It's been called "as moving and awesome and popular a piece of memorial architecture as exists anywhere in the world." She has gone on to create the Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama, and the Langston Hughes Library in Clinton, Tennessee. She discusses her approach and the ideas behind her work in her new book, Boundaries.
