Snooki And Frankel, The Jersey Dream Team

This morning, clicking around, I came across Matt Lauer's interview with Snooki -- Nicole Polizzi, the tiny pouf-haired guidette from Jersey Shore. She's got a book out, and I'm a little afraid to admit, I'm intrigued (though perhaps Tom Payne could offer me some reassurance and alleviate my fear).  I read L.A. Candy, for goodness sakes. Plus, there are some choice quotes making the rounds, such as:

Gia danced around a little, shaking her peaches for show. She shook it hard. Too hard. In the middle of a shimmy, her stomach cramped. A fart slipped out. A loud one. And stinky.

So I watched the interview, and my jaw dropped -- somehow, I'd missed that Valerie Frankel helped her write the book. Frankel, whom I wrote about in the early days of this blog, is someone I really respect. Jessica Grose at XXfactor talked to her about taking on Snooki and the Shore. In the interview, Frankel cast Snooki in, if not an angelic light, a more forgiving one than her detractors.

I always say: Snooki drinks for our sins. I am collaborating with Snooki for those girls, who look at her and they say, she’s not this ideal Paris Hilton or Lauren Conrad, this blonde type -- she’s just from Poughkeepsie. She's having a good time and enjoying this lightning-in-a-bottle life that she’s in right now.

I can't promise I won't read A Shore Thing.But I can promise that if I do, I'll feel a little less guilty about it.
