Super Tuesday belonged to former Vice President Joe Biden, demonstrating a tremendous comeback from a candidate who has spent much of the primary season on the ropes.

Yesterday, 14 states and American Samoa held their Democratic primary contests with a total of 1,357 delegates up for grabs. That represented a third of the total delegates available from the entire primary.

Biden won in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. But his key competitor, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, isn’t out yet. He won in California (though not by the wide margin that was expected), Colorado, Utah and Vermont. The New York Times wrote that “The disparate political coalitions the two septuagenarian politicians have assembled suggest a long and protracted fight ahead”

Two major candidates — former Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar — dropped out of the race recently and endorsed Biden. How did that impact the primaries? And what’s ahead for candidates like Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg?

We unpack the biggest election day on the Democratic primary calendar.
