Super Tuesday belonged to former Vice President Joe Biden, demonstrating a tremendous comeback from a candidate who has spent much of the primary season on the ropes.
Yesterday, 14 states and American Samoa held their Democratic primary contests with a total of 1,357 delegates up for grabs. That represented a third of the total delegates available from the entire primary.
Biden won in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. But his key competitor, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, isn’t out yet. He won in California (though not by the wide margin that was expected), Colorado, Utah and Vermont. The New York Times wrote that “The disparate political coalitions the two septuagenarian politicians have assembled suggest a long and protracted fight ahead”
