The KUNC newsroom was recognized with 4 Major Market awards for 2013 by the Colorado Broadcasters Association at their annual Awards of Excellence Banquet Saturday night.
Reporter Grace Hood received a first place award in the Best Single Event News category for a report on how oil and gas companies notify local residents when drilling operations move into neighborhoods. She received a second place award in the same category for a story on flooding impacts in the town of Lyons.

Hood was also recognized with a first place award in the Best News Feature, Report or Series category for her profile of an unconventional tour guide in Boulder.
Reporter Nathan Heffel received a second place award in the Best News Feature, Report or Series category for a two part series profiling efforts to educate refugees from war ravaged areas like Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq who settle in Greeley.
