High Plains Chautauqua Brings History to Life this Week

High Plains Chautauqua

High Plains Chautauqua is a unique blend of history, theatre and the humanities brought to life under a Chautauqua tent, giving audiences the opportunity to meet and engage with personalities from the past.  This year’s theme is ‘Visionaries at Home and Abroad. ’  The High Plains Chautauqua program is free, and runs August 2 - 6, 2011 on the campus of AIMS Community College in Greeley.  KUNC’s Erin O’Toole spoke with Brian ‘Fox’ Ellis, who portrays Charles Darwin and Walt Whitman, about what makes Chautauqua such a draw for audiences, and why it continues to be relevant.

For a schedule of events you can visit the schedule page at High Plains Chautauqua.

As the host of KUNC’s new program and podcast In the NoCo, I work closely with our producers and reporters to bring context and diverse perspectives to the important issues of the day. Northern Colorado is such a diverse and growing region, brimming with history, culture, music, education, civic engagement, and amazing outdoor recreation. I love finding the stories and voices that reflect what makes NoCo such an extraordinary place to live.
